WeWriWa - Communication is Key?

It's Sunday!  It's the day of the week, that several talented authors share little snippets of their work for your enjoyment.  Be careful, once you start travelling around to all the sites, you get yourself hooked, on story after story, and you have to come back week after week (whew, what a run-on).  If you'd like to find all the amazing folks listed in one place, please click the link to WeWriWa
I'm returning to Return of the Crown, last week, Ravyn did some hoping and gave the dragon some serious praise, hoping it would be enough to keep her from being torched.  If you'd like to refresh, click here.
The dragon cocked its head, puzzled.  It began growling, but Ravyn heard, “Is that why you stole my egg?”

“Stole your egg?  I’ve only been here since yesterday.  How could I have stolen your egg?”
“My egg was missing when I returned from hunting last night.  You admit you have been here a whole day.  You had time..."

I have recently returned to the world of outside the home work...which has been fun, but this past week, kept me very busy.  Today is my only day off...and I'm heading out with the dear husband to watch a matinee performance of Les Miserables.  I will get by as many folks as I can before I need to go, and will catch up with whomever I missed in the next couple days!  Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

  1. The dragon seems "imposing" and scary - that was communicated well in your 8.

  3. Oh dear, dragon thinks she did it and has even worked out the logistics: I like intelligent dragons! I like this excerpt for a lot of reasons, one of which is that it raises questions that can only be answered by reading more: did she pick up the egg without realizing what it was? Is the dragon wrong after all? Is the truth something else yet again? :D

  7. Love this snippet [course I love dragons :-)] Consider perhaps instead of "It began growling" - It growled - just seemed more active to me. Very nice 8 and good luck with re-entering the workforce outside the home.

    1. Thanks Susan, I will make a note of that change. And so far, my forays into the workforce have been challenging and fun. I work in physical therapy in rehab, so the biggest adjustment has been to being on my feet all day...but I'm starting to accommodate : )

  10. I love how this relationship is beginning, and I wonder if the missing egg is the young dragon we witnessed in previous adventures!

I don't have a snippet to share this week, so need to hunt for mine... I'm just glad to read more of Ravyn's friendship blooming with Ena. I like Susan Stuckey's advice, as well, about "growled" - it really does make a nice improvement on an already excellent snippet!

    1. Thanks Susan, but I am sorry I won't get another snippet from you this week. You just want to tantalize us...I'm so glad you still made the rounds! Hope your week goes well, and I'm looking forward to more : )

The missing egg may indeed turn out to be a young and scampering red male dragon : )

  14. Oh dear. I know how broody hens act when humans get to close to their eggs, I imagine dragon's are a great deal scarier. This is a very compelling snippet, great job!

  21. I guess now Ravyn will have to go egg hunting. No wonder the dragon was pissed.
