Ravyn holds her breath...

Happy WeWriWa to you.  What?  You don't know what that means?  Well, every Sunday, authors from around the globe post eight sentences from their work in progress or from a published work.  Then, they go around to each other's sites and read and comment and commiserate.  Do you have to be an author to participate?  Heck no, you can read all these great snippets even if you don't post your own!  Follow the link here for a list of all the participants.  There's almost every genre imaginable represented!

For my bit of eight this week, we are continuing where we left off last week.  Ena, an angry mother dragon, has listened to Princess Ravyn tell of her evil aunt, unravelling protection spells, quests to return crowns, and rightly asked the question...but what has this to do with my egg?
Here's Ravyn's answer:

“Since the invisibility spell is gone, my aunt is able to locate me through magic, and she’s trying to eliminate me.  I think she stole your egg, hoping you’d kill me, thinking I took your baby.”  She held her breath waiting for the dragon’s reaction.
The dragon appeared to ponder her words.  “Why shouldn’t I kill you, then attack your aunt and take my egg back?  Dragons care nothing of humans or their petty wars and struggles.”
“My aunt is very strong in the use of the Dark Arts.  If you attack her castle, you will be captured or killed yourself.”

I love your comments, so please feel free to share.  And, have a wonderful, restful Sunday!

  3. I can just imagine the dragon snorting at the last comment. Ravyn should be careful what she says. She might have offended her!

    Great eight, as usual. :)

    1. Dragons don't have much to fear, but the Dark Arts are something every creature, no matter their size has a healthy respect for. But you're right, Ena would love to get her talons on Zelera!

  8. Having an angry momma dragon as an ally could be decisive. And it's certainly preferable to having her as an enemy. :)

  9. That seems like a lot of maybes for an assassination plot, especially if it went wrong and Evil Aunt ended up with an angry mother dragon after her...

I wonder if she was balancing out that possibility with using the dragon's egg like Ena feared. Seems appropriately evil.

    1. It is supposition...but it falls in line with how Zelera's mind works...more of the tale would give you the actual deed : )

  17. Ena let Ravyn say what she's been trying to say! Yay! I wouldn't want to be the evil aunt right now and have an angry mother dragon setting her cross hairs on me. :-)

    Well done, Millie!.

  20. At last we find out! Ravyn makes a good case for not getting flamed. I agree with Karen, I like the dragon's response. Very logical, why should I give a crap. Now will Ena heed the warning or hunt that witch down? Another great 8!
