You have no idea what you fight for - WeWriWa

So it's just another Warrior Sunday, whoa, glad it's not Monday, whoa, 'Cause this is my funday, Weekend Writing Warrior Sunday! (Get your Bangles on : )

Welcome one and all, If you know not what Weekend Writing Warriors are, click the button above.  It will take you to a place where it will all be explained.  And, you will learn how you too can participate if you aren't already.

Last week, Medina was questioning a young sailor from Rasport.  The conversation seemed to be going okay, and then he started to get suspicious...(I may have used some creative punctuation, it's highly likely that happened).

“You’re the enemy, you’re trying to gather our secrets.”  He jumped to his feet, yanking hard on the alarm bell cord, a sharp clanging rent the air.

Medina spread her wings, leaping to the edge of the crow’s nest.  She flapped her wings, blasting air into the boy’s face.  He covered his head under his arms.  “You are an ignorant little cuss,” she cried.  “I had thought at first I would be able to call you friend, but I can see you cling blindly to your prejudiced notions.  I hope you make it through this war my boy, you have no idea what you fight for.”

Love to hear your thoughts, so feel free to leave a comment.

  1. Sounds like the sailor is like many young warriors. No idea what they are fighting for, but good at following orders.

  2. He really got her mad. I wonder what she is going to do to him. Or is she just going to fly away?

    1. Anyone who lived under the reign of Zelera will be carrying some unspent passion...and Medina doesn't really need much reason anyhow, she is a harpy : )

  6. Aw shoot, I feel bad for the kid, he really doesn't know any better. Paranoia runs rampant in wartime. Despite the presence of a harpy, this is so realistic :D :D

  7. Yes, I could say this applies to most people in any war. Very realistic making your paranormal world seem very normal.

    1. Thank you. Fantasy has to be believable, I think...something we can connect with.

  8. A universal appeal to all nations. Make love, not war. Politicians take heed, a harpy is coming your way to speak the truth. Maybe then people will listen.
    Exceptional eight.

  9. Great reaction from Medina. Even though I haven't read the previous snippets, I'd like to know why the sailor thinks she's the enemy?

    1. He's from a neighboring nation that is attacking her world, because they think Aigerach has kidnapped the King's fiancee.

  10. I like the way Medina's words could apply to any war, real or fictional. Nicely done.

    1. A soldier should know what he's fighting for certainly. To blindly follow orders without thought or conviction is sheer folly.

  11. Propaganda can innoculate against common sense.

    1. It certainly can. Propaganda is behind a good many atrocities throughout history.

  12. I wonder if that's the last we'll see of that young man? Sometimes it only takes one soldier to turn the tide . . .

Regardless, I still adore Medina---and I doubt he has any secrets she doesn't already know! :)

  14. Medina rocks! lol, I love that she called him a "little cuss". A very visual snippet, Millie. And I like the subtle message in this scene. Well done! :-)

  16. I didn't see that coming. somehow I expected her to persuade him to talk to her awhile longer but...the scene is realistic for a time of war. Can't wait for whatever happens next, terrific snippet!

  17. Great dialogue. I can feel her anger. I must go check out other snippets. This one has me intrigued.

  18. I have a feeling that he has made an enemy he'll regret. btw, so realistic I actually thought I felt the wind!

  19. Love this--I can still see both sides, which makes the fighting so much more emotional. Yeah, he's ignorant, and he needs more time to see that. But she's angry, and that's understandable, too.

I bet they run into each other again with some different view points.
