My networking and media tips:
1. Treat others how you would like to be treated (I think I'm stealing from the good book here, but it sort of covers so many areas).
2. Try to find balance between networking and writing. If the balance goes awry, do not beat yourself up over it. Reset your priorities and start over. No biggie. (BTW, if you find a good and permanent way to keep the balance - please share)
3. Have fun. If it's not fun, it's not worth doing.
For me, that sort of sums it up. Oh and give a super big THANK YOU to those who provide you with opportunities to meet others and share your work and insight! So, Dawna and Fel, you two are my HEROES!!!
I had a great time these past couple weeks meeting you fine folks and reading about your work, your interests, and just the general camaraderie that ensued! Don't be a stranger, let's keep in touch. And if I can help you in the future in any way, please don't hesitate to ask!

I agree with those. Especially the first one, I mean the last one... nah the second one. Actually I have a lot of trouble keeping the balance, either it's too much of going around others blog and I don't have time to do anything else or I just don't talk to anyone for a week because of all the catch up I have to do for talking so much. So once you find how to deal with the balance don't forget me, I would love to know.
ReplyDeleteI think we need someone to splice off a bit of our DNA and create another of ourselves in order to meet all the demands. Either that, or never sleep again!
DeleteGreat tips, Millie! Finding the balance is so difficult. I try to set a specific hour each day for social media, but often it become more. I have heard that setting a timer is a good idea, as it warns you that the specific time you had allocated is up. But even then it takes will power to wrench yourself away.
ReplyDeleteI love sleeping too much, Millie, so the creation of a clone is the way to go! :)
It was lovely to meet you too, Millie, and everyone else at the Block Party! I have liked your FB page, so I can read what you're up to. :)
Great! I believe I added everyone as well. If you have any need of anything in the future, give me a holler : )
