So, welcome to my second time participating in WeWriWa. I should have been here last week as well, but what can I say...I wasn't. This week, I'm going to share some more from my WIP (it's Fantasy, Good old-fashioned quest style). Ravyn and Lareina are in a cabin on an island with some Selkie men (two new characters) and they are soon joined by Dragons! If you read my last little snippet...well, this has nothing to do with that. If you didn't read it, but are dying to...it's right here...WeWriWa#1 Love to hear what you think : )
Ronan reached the window and peeked outside. “Ravyn, no,” he screamed, slamming himself against the door and knocking her backwards onto her bottom. “There’s two bloody dragons out there, they’ll eat ye alive!”
Ravyn glanced over at Lareina who had taken a seat by the fire and sat sipping tea. They both burst out laughing.
Ronan crouched down and reached a tentative hand out toward Ravyn’s head, “Ah bless me, did I knock ye so hard that ye hit yer head? Dragon’s are naught to laugh at.”
Ravyn shook her head, still giggling, “Are they both huge and red?”

Something tells me Ravyn has more than a passing acquaintance with dragons LOL. I liked the note of concern from Ronan...great little snippet today!
ReplyDeleteYup, she might just know these dragons : )
Deletegreat hook - gather these are friendly dragons
ReplyDeleteFriendly but snarky : )
DeleteYou write action well, Millie. I could. visualize the scene . Nicely done! :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Teresa, that's what I hope to do...take folks on an adventure : )
DeleteThere's nothing like two women calmly drinking tea while a man panics! :D This is a great scene!
ReplyDeleteWhy, thank you! It is a fun one : )
DeleteHah! Always fun to have a giggle at another's unnecessary panic... Though it sounds like he's less overreacting and more uninformed.
ReplyDeleteMost definitely. Normally dragons aren't the most friendly : )
DeleteI love the way you set up this snippet. I can't wait to find out what happens next!
ReplyDeleteWhy thank you! I sure am having fun writing this adventure!
DeleteI figure the ladies know a bit more than Ronan. Poor guy. I'm sure they'll let him in on the secret soon. Fun energy in this snippet.
ReplyDeleteYup, Ravyn's def. in the know. She has a past with the dragons : )
DeleteI agree with the commenters above... it's hilarious to witness Ronan's panic against the backdrop of calm ladies drinking tea while two red dragons approach. I'm fascinated! I can't wait to find out what those dragons are up to! Great snippet and thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteYou are more than welcome, thank you for stopping by and taking your time to read and comment! : )
DeleteAre we having fun or what? Millie, this is a most delightful eight. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteMy thanks to you for stopping by. I am most definitely having a great time!
DeleteMillie
ReplyDeleteReally enjoyed this eight. You've created characters that made me smile and I want to know more about them and about what happens next. Great #8
Susan
Thanks Susan, glad to hear you enjoyed : )
DeleteI take it that these Dragons are friends of Ravyn and Laveina. It seems by their reaction that they are not to be feared as Ronan, who knocked Ravyn to the floor had thought. They seem to have things well in control.
ReplyDeleteThere may be a little dragon riding in their future : )
ReplyDeleteLol, LOVE the voice here. I'm thinking these dragons are known to Ravyn and Laveina. Fun, fun!!!! Great 8!
ReplyDeleteWhat a clever last sentence--"fearsome" dragons indeed--I'm hoping there's more of this scene next week *crosses fingers*
ReplyDeleteMaybe so...I'll ask the powers that be : )
DeleteRavyn and Laveina obviously know these dragons. Cute snippet.
ReplyDeleteGlad you liked it!
DeleteEnjoyable snippet! Love the light-hearted yet serious tone. Sorry I missed this on Sunday.
ReplyDeleteNo problem : ). I'm still trying to get through everyone's snippets in my spare time : )
DeleteHi, sorry I'm late. Love the snippet. Ravyn sounds like an interesting girl. Can't wait to learn more about her and the dragons :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by, I'm so glad you enjoyed : )
DeleteI'm a little late to the party too, but I loved your snippet. I'm reading a book about dragons now and really enjoying it . . . Core by Teshelle Combs if you want to check it out :-)
ReplyDeleteI love Dragons! And all kinds of other mythological and magical creatures! Thanks for stopping by Jamie!
DeleteOh, I like this! We lived in rural Connecticut and our neighbor's cow was always getting loose. One day, good old Bossie stood in the middle of our street, tying up what little traffic we had. My sister went to the cow, to move her out of the road. A bug-eyed man in a car in front of the poor thing, rolled down his window and screamed, "Get away from that cow! It's a WILD COW! It can kill you!" I had the same reaction to this snippet as I did that day. Hysterical. Thanks for the laugh!
ReplyDeleteYou are more than welcome! I'm glad you got a giggle out of it : )
DeleteI like Ronan's accent. And he seems so out of it compared to the other.
ReplyDeleteI feel bad for laughing at him with them though.
He's got a good heart and a good sense of humor...he'd probably laugh right along with you!
DeleteOooh intriguing! I'm off to read your first post now.
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed : )
