This is incredible...I'm on my 4th weekend participating in WeWriWa, and third week in a row! This is kind of amazing, I'm actually keeping myself on task : )
If you happened upon here by chance, what is about to occur, is me sharing eight sentences from my WIP with you. The cool thing is...lots of other fantastic writers are doing the same thing, and if you'd like, you can click here...Weekend Writing Warriors! to find their blogs and see what tantalizing tidbits they are posting.
Last week, Ravyn stepped outside the cabin to talk to the dragon Ena, whom she'd befriended years ago. If you'd like to refresh your memory, click here First, then here!
“Ena stop, it’s okay, we’re safe!” Ravyn sped across the ground toward the
dragon, but the thrashing tail caught her in the middle of her chest. The air whooshed from her lungs as she sailed
through the air to fall in a heap on the ground.
Ronan
burst out of the cabin brandishing a stout shillelagh. He ran to the dragon, swinging the heavy
wooden club overhead. A second red dragon,
larger than the first, careened down out of the sky and plucked Ronan up in its
razor sharp talons. The cudgel fell from
his hands to fall to the ground with a passive thud. Ravyn struggled to find her breath forcing in
air past the ache in her chest.
So, I always love your comments. Would you leave one, pretty please with sugar on top? Have a great #eight Sunday!

Oh, it the situation seems grim! Glad you've been sticking to the group. I've found that the weekly blog hop has really helped me grow and develop as a writer.
ReplyDeleteI feel like it's helping me to keep my toes wet...so I stay on task better : )
DeleteHmmm, dragons seem dangerous. Hope he's okay!
ReplyDeleteHe's dangling...not eaten or flambéed...that's a positive : )
DeleteUh oh, hope Ravyn gets her breath back FAST before damage is done to poor, misunderstanding Ronan! Great snippet!
ReplyDeleteYeah, really sucks when the wind gets knocked out of ya!
DeleteLove the dragons! This scene is fantastic and full of action! can't wait to read more!
ReplyDeleteGlad you are enjoying : )
DeleteObviously there's a little communication problem.
ReplyDeleteYup, darn it all. Don't most problems arise because of communication malfunctions?
DeleteOuch! What a place to leave us. Loving the action and danger here. Well done and congrats on your 4th post. I'm looking forward to the 5th. :)
ReplyDeleteYay, I have been having fun, and sure look forward to sharing my posts, as well as reading everyone else's!
DeleteWhat a surprise turn of events, as the "friendly" dragon takes Ravyn out in one swipe of her tail! What surprised me is how fast Ronan responded, going after the dragon with his weapon... very intense! Great 8!
ReplyDelete: ) Dragons, friendly or no, are wild creatures! : )
DeleteOoh, I love it. What's going to become of Ronan??? Great writing!
ReplyDeleteMore to come next week : )
DeleteExciting snippet, l love dragon stories!
ReplyDeleteI love writing about them. But, there are a bunch of other wonderful magical creatures in my stories as well.
DeleteVery exciting eight! Nicely done.
ReplyDeleteThank you. This was a delightful scene to write!
DeleteLoves me some dragons - nicely done and left me anxious to read more. Definitely delightful. Anticipating next week's 8 sentences :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear that, I think we'll see the dragons again next week : )
DeleteOh, no! Poor Ronan. Love dragons. I went back to read the other posts and was excited to see you had selkies too.
ReplyDeleteRonan, my door dangling Selkie : ) He's a little heartbreaker!
DeleteVery exciting and tense snippet! Looking forward to read what happens next.
ReplyDeleteHope you don't mind a suggestion. You wrote:
"The cudgel fell from his hands to fall to the ground with a passive thud." Reads a little convoluted. How about:
"The cudgel fell from his hands and onto the ground with a passive thud."
Yup, that's better : ) Nice to get proofreading help during WeWriWa. This is first draft written during NaNoWriMo, so I'm sure it will need editis : ) I am always happy for suggestions!
DeleteOh, my my, not the best way to be hanging around with dragons! But really, what else was Ronan going to think? Great job showing not telling us his "Holy crap, they're going to kill her" state of mind. Nicely done Millie.
ReplyDeleteHistory Sleuth's Milk Carton Murders
Why thank you Cindy! I try very hard not to tell my stories : )
DeletePoor Rayven, and poor Ronan!
ReplyDeleteHahahaha I vote for the dragons to win this!
ReplyDeleteIt could end up it's a win win for everyone. Thanks for coming and commenting!
DeleteGreat action! Definitely felt the urgency. Love dragons! :D
ReplyDeleteFantastic action scene! I felt like I was there.
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed! Thanks!
DeleteWhat a mess!
ReplyDeleteWe used to have a big dog with a bullwhip of a tail. He would knock us kids over by wagging, then lick us half to death in apology. This reminds me of him, except a little less deadly! :D
Our Doberman has no tail...but he's a big galoot! He shoves past me when I walk on the stairs...I think he's trying to take me out!
DeleteWhat! You're leaving us here? With poor Ronan in the dragon's claws?
ReplyDeleteI'll feed you a lil' more next week : )
DeleteYeah, what's the idea, stopping right there!! Oh the sentence limit, that's right! You've got tension down pat, Millie. This excerpt races right along; if I was holding your book and it stopped right there, I'd have dropped it in shock! Great job here.
ReplyDeleteWhy thank you. I am having fun sharing these little snippets : )
DeleteThank you!
ReplyDeleteLots of action, Millie, and well written. Plunked me down in the middle of it! :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Teresa.
DeleteThis is very visual, which is a lot of fun since it's such an incredible scene. Beautifully detailed.
ReplyDeleteThank you ever so much. It was fun to write : )
DeleteWow, I thought the dragons were nice. They seem a bit clumsy.
ReplyDeleteThey're just very large : )
DeleteYay, dragon fight! Love it! Great 8! :D
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by Karen : ) Glad you liked it!
