Wow, it's mid-November already! Weather is getting cooler, nights are growing longer, and those authors are working themselves to the bone to complete NaNoWriMo. But, today...it's Warrior day. A day to share eight lines of work, published or in progress, and to visit others who have done the same. For all the rules and how to join in the fun, click here!
I was missing in action last weekend...Disneyland beckoned and we heeded the call. But, the weekend before left us with Ravyn telling Seamus, she wasn't the girl for him. (And after he'd gotten such a lovely dinner made and was all excited to celebrate.) The first voice in this conversation is Seamus, followed by Ravyn's response.
“But…”
“No, let me finish. I know that you Selkie men are irresistible. Your magic pulls on women’s heartstrings. I should be, would be, completely and blissfully under your spell. But, there’s something about me you should know. I do know about magic, about working with the Light. I've made myself safe from your charms…”
Poor Seamus...
All my NaNo friends, I hope this month is going well for you. You are about halfway through, you can do it! Good luck, and keep those pencils scribbling, or those fingers tapping away at the keys!
Oh, the pull of Disneyland! Hope you guys had fun!
ReplyDeleteLove the snippet. Even though it's going to be heartbreaking for Seamus, it is going to offer more insight on Ravyn and her magic. I only hope that he doesn't take it too badly...
Disneyland was great, thanks. It's always magical! Poor Seamus...for now. Sometimes when we're denied something...there's something else around the corner. One can only hope for him : )
DeleteTweeted, G+'d and tried to Pin but thee was no image.
ReplyDeleteNice 8!
Thanks Chip : )
DeletePoor Seamus indeed. But I think she isn't totally protected against his charms.
ReplyDeleteWe shall see : )
DeleteHa! I think Frank (Fisher) is on to something! I'm liking this story, Millie!
ReplyDeleteThank you : ) Hope Blade doesn't need to come in fighting...
DeleteThat's one surefire reason to successfully avoid getting emotionally involved with a past flame again!
ReplyDeleteHe's tried to charm her with his Selkie magic, but she has skill weaving the Light (magic). She's already happily engaged.
DeleteOh she does like him, I'd say. Not as completely as she would otherwise, though, I'm assuming. I feel bad for Seamus because he's so likeable! She's trying to let him down carefully but he'll be crushed! You gotta post next week, Millie!
ReplyDeleteShe does like him, but not romantically. And, yes, she has a good heart. She doesn't want to break his.
DeleteWhy do I think Seamus is just going to try harder? I'm with Frank too, she might be protected from magical charms, but what about good old natural charm?
ReplyDeleteHa, love where you guys are going. Some men can get very determined...
DeleteSeamus will have to come up with a new plan!
ReplyDeleteWe shall see...thanks for stopping by Patricia!
DeleteNever been to Disney Land only Disney World. Hope you enjoyed your trip.
ReplyDeleteSo, she's blocked herself from his charms. That is a good thing maybe so anything she may feel for him is real and not part of the magical pull his kind have??? Can't wait to hear his response.
: ). Real love would be better than a magical charm...
DeleteDelightful as always and you've left us with a cliff hanger. Will he or won't she?
ReplyDelete: ). Thank you Charmaine.
DeleteSafe from his magic charms, at least . . . what about his other ones? And what about her mother?
ReplyDeleteMore, Millie! More!
eight sentences at a time : )
DeleteReally that seems only fair that she's able to protect herself.
ReplyDeleteI thought so, and Ravyn thinks so too : )
DeleteIt won't be magic, but it still could be... I think this is a very interesting ride we are going to experience, I hope he doesn't give up. (I tried and tried to run the other way from my hubby - finally gave in and was engaged 2 weeks later. We're married 39 years & I'm happy he didn't give up)
ReplyDeleteAw, that's a sweet love story Chelle : ). We'll see what happens with these two soon : )
DeleteYay for Disneyland!!! Seems like Seamus isn't going to give up on Ravyn so easily here...interesting developments and a great snippet!
ReplyDeleteDisneyland is always magic! We'll see how Seamus reacts soon.
DeleteI've always felt a little sorry for the creatures with charm they can't control. Do they ever wonder what it would be like, to be loved for them?
ReplyDeleteI agree...it would be hard to be charmed.
Delete
ReplyDeleteWell, that pesky mating magic often defies the strongest protection ward. ;) I'm thinking she's not as safe as she thinks.
Maybe...
DeleteLove selkies! Nice 8!
ReplyDeleteThank you. Selkies are fun!
DeleteHope you had fun at Disneyland! I feel bad for Seamus, but I think that was a pretty nice way to turn a guy down. Kinda like the 'it's not you, it's me' charm edition. Great job, Millie!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Seamus is hurting for sure...but Ravyn is being as nice as she can be.
DeleteI could just feel the deflate :)
ReplyDeleteYup, that pretty well sums it up.
