Welcome to my eight sentences for WeWriWa. Each Sunday, folks from all over post eight sentences from published work, or work's in progress. Everyone visits each other and posts comments and suggestions. It's a heap of fun!
This week, I'm continuing on from here. Ravyn is trying to convince the dragon she did not steal her egg. Ena said..."You used magic, I smell it on you."
“Oh, I only just
did that. I wanted to talk with
you. I swear, I never even saw your
egg.”
The dragon glanced
about the small clearing, “Maybe you had help, or you left the egg somewhere
planning to return for it later. I’ve
seen the horrible things you dragon hunter’s do for dragon blood. Using it in your magic potions, evil witch!” She sucked in a deep breath, readying to
flambé Ravyn.
What would convince the dragon she was innocent...who could have stolen the egg?
I missed you all last week. My wonderful brother-in-law was getting married, and I gave him and his wonderful bride all my attention last weekend. I can't wait to catch up on everybody's posts! Have a really wonderful Sunday!
I think her best chance will be to come back when she knows more about the eggs. Things get hot with a pissed dragon.
ReplyDeleteSo true...
DeleteHmm, tricky situation to convince a rampaging dragon of her innocence. Great 8
ReplyDeleteVery tricky.
Deletelol, am so going to have to read this again :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for swinging through Joss!
DeleteNo! Don't cook her! Tense eight!
ReplyDeleteThanks Gemma...so far the dragon is being pretty tolerant, all things considered.
DeleteRavyn is faced with a difficult chore - hard to convince a angry mother dragon of anything. Consider if you wish to use flambe (it is a rather modern term and only received its modern meaning in the 1900s). Great 8.
ReplyDeleteThanks Susan for the advice on flambé : )
DeleteOne breath from the dragon would end it so she better come up with an answer. Oh what a tale/tail! Terrific eight.
ReplyDeleteShe's gonna have to convince the dragon soon : ) Thanks Charmaine.
DeleteI say you should never argue with an angry dragon. She should get out of there sharpish! Great snippet.
ReplyDeleteThanks Karen. Hopefully a way will open up for her soon : )
DeleteIf I were her, I'd be offering to help find the culprit! Good 8.
ReplyDeleteHmm, good idea : )
DeleteThis is where I go "EEP" and hope for the best as I try to get the hell out there! Loving this tale!
ReplyDeleteHee hee hee. I'm not sure it'd be too easy to dodge the dragon, but one could try.
DeleteThis is a great snippet, really. I can picture everything, but more importantly, the dragon's continuing indignation and Ravyn's worry over how to change Ena's mind come through. Am always interested in what's going to happen next with these characters.
ReplyDeleteOne tweak: no apostrophe in "dragon hunters" in this context. Little buggers drop in so many places! :-D
Sheesh! You know, you can read these things through time and again, and little bits sneak past...grr. Glad you are enjoying the story : )
DeleteLove the suspense! How can she convince the dragon she didn't take the egg! Hopefully she'll figure something out!
ReplyDeleteThanks Lauren. Have a really great Sunday!
DeleteIntense! I'm on the edge of my seat for another week now LOL. Terrific snippet, what will change the dragon's mind???
ReplyDeleteAh, edge of your seat...just where I want you : )
DeleteOh I do hope she can convince the dragon. Who did take the egg? I want to know. :)
ReplyDeleteThat light bulb moment should be on its way soon!
Deletehow do you convince an angry momma dragon you don't have her egg? something needs to work in her favor.
ReplyDeleteShe's certainly needing something to help her out...
DeleteYikes. I hope she can find out who stole the egg before she gets fried. ;) Congratulations to your BIL and his new wife.
ReplyDeleteAw, thanks. It was a wonderful wedding, very country and fun!
DeleteI'm reminded of Alice in Wonderland trying to convince that bird that she wasn't a serpent (despite the long neck she was sporting at the time) and didn't want her eggs (expect maybe cooked---wait, didn't mean it that way!).
ReplyDeleteI have a feeling it's going to be just as difficult for Rayven to defend herself!
(I completely forgot to sign up for WeWriWa, but my post is up, anyway, if you have the time)
The dragon may come around yet...we shall see : )
DeleteI hope something convinces the dragon.
ReplyDeleteJust a little more conversation and the air may clear of smoke : )
DeleteEeep. That dragon isn't listening at all... But I bet she's frantic for her baby. Rayvn better think faster!
ReplyDeleteShe's listening...she just isn't hearing anything that changes her mind ; )
DeleteOh no, poor Ravyn! Fun piece and I love the word flambe. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, glad you are enjoying.
DeleteDo or die time! I want to know how she got out of that. Hope we find out next week. **hint..hint**
ReplyDeleteHistory Sleuth's Milk Carton Murders
Sure Cindy, you who always leaves us hanging ; )
DeleteOh no! The egg! Yes, definitely want to know who took it. A dragon needs her egg! Great 8! :D
ReplyDeleteYup, she is a pretty unhappy momma right now...
DeleteWe missed you last week too, Millie! Congrats to your brother-in-law! :) As for this excerpt, exciting and intense! How will she prove her innocence? Can't wait for more!
ReplyDeleteThanks Evelyn, Bro-in-law is a happy camper : )
DeleteTalk about cliff-hanger!!! Great 8, Millie, I look forward to finding out how Ravyn gets out of this one. :)
ReplyDeleteRavyn is looking forward to that too : )
DeleteI can't wait to find out how she talks her way out of this situation. Great snippet!
ReplyDeleteGlad I have you wanting to know more : )
DeleteAnother great eight.
ReplyDeleteThanks Stevie!
DeleteHi Millie... I just had to come back and see what surprises Ena has for Ravyn! I don't have 8-sentences to share this week, but I'm glad Ravyn and Ena are back :)
ReplyDeleteI hope you're having a great Fall :)
Susan, so glad to see you stopping by. I miss your posts. Ena and Ravyn are still at it. One of these days, I'll have to introduce some new characters : )
