I prefer the fat ones - WeWriWa

A very Happy New Year to you!  And you, and yes, you too!  It's such a great time of year...we have a clean slate, a chance at a new start.  One thing I won't give up though...is WeWriWa!  Nosiree bob.  I stumbled across this great group of authors this past year (one of the wonderful things that happened in 2013) and I decided to join them.  Every week, we post 8 lines from either published work or Writings in Progress.  We share with each other and learn from each other.  It's super de duper.  If you are interested in learning more about it, or finding more fantastic authors to follow...click the link Here!  (See how I cleverly inserted myself into the fantastic author category : )

I've been sharing with you from my WIP, and you've been getting a peek at Medina, a fun and crazy harpy who lives in Aigerach.  Last week, she landed in the crow's nest of the enemies' ship and started a dialogue with a young boy/soldier...he breathed, "You're not going to eat me."  And here's her reply : )

“Of course not, I never eat skinny humans, I prefer the fat ones,” she leered at him, smacking her lips.
He pushed to his feet, his hands groping for the pull cord to the alarm bell.  Medina cackled, “Joke, boy...it was a joke.  Apparently, it wasn’t very funny.”  She smirked as the boy collapsed back down into the nest, the wind out of his sails.
“Wh-what are you doing here,” he asked.

“Checking to see what my enemies are up to,” she said, raising an eyebrow.  “And I find them running amok, mad out of their wits.”

So, drop me a comment.  I'd love to hear what you think.  And, if you're like me, and this month you have set a goal to finish the first draft of a WIP, let me know how you're doing.  As I post this, I've only written a few words this past week (grr), but I plan on adding a thousand or two more words tonight.  I'll let you know how that works out : )

Millie, you are such a sweetie! " (See how I cleverly inserted myself into the fantastic author category : ) " Yes, I did see that--and thought how right you are! You are a fantastic author. When is this book going to be finished? I need to read it. :-)

    1. Thank you. She used to be just a nasty piece of work, as most harpy's are...but then she met Ravyn and the rest is history : )

  11. *I* thought it was funny! I'm thinking that running mad is just how Medina likes her enemies to be. ;o)

  12. The kid is an enemy? Then can she save him, please? I'm sure he's very sorry . . .

Unless we aren't on Medina's side (it's tough not to be, regardless---she's just that cool). In that case, you save him, please! :D

    1. The kid is indeed from a land that just invaded Aigerach. And, they hate all things to do with magic...it'd be nice if she could save him : )

  13. yes monsters are people too, or whatever, many stories show the "monster" as victim which is an idea I find fascinating

    1. Yup, monsters can be monsters...but people can be monsters as well : ) So why not the reverse?
