Welcome to my humble little blog. It has become a battleground for me, my weekend writing warrior battleground. Here on these pages lie my WIP that I share eight sentences at a time, slashing and parrying with words, hoping to capture a few hearts and minds. In turn, I sally forth to other warriors homes, to see what words have been thrown down for me to ponder. In this way, through collective sharing and encouragement, the warrior's heart grows strong, and the writer's skills grow! Last week, Ravyn and Ronan had returned from a walk and interrupted Lareina and Murphy getting acquainted. Murphy noticed two seal skins hanging across his son's arm and asked him if he was daft? We pick back up with Ronan's response...
“What
you are?” Lareina asked. “Darling, what
does he mean?“ She grabbed Murphy’s arm, squeezing his muscles, “You are every bit a man.” She giggled, laying her head on his shoulder.
Hope you all are having a wonderful Sunday. I am fighting off a little cold my darling daughter decided to share with me. I will do my best to get to everyone today...but forgive me if I end up napping a bit : )
Now that sure sounds like Murphy is "throwing down the gauntlet" (your fault, you got me in a warrior mindset, lol) Now you really have me wondering how much more than men they are. Definitely intriguing.
ReplyDeleteYou shall soon see, if you haven't guessed already : )
DeleteGreat dialogue because it's fun and smooth!

Why thank you Joyce. My characters are a hoot to hang out with, though they can give a girl a headache if you don't get their words down quickly enough.
DeleteLove it! Great writing and subtext!
ReplyDeleteThank you Elsa, glad you enjoyed. Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteI know we only get snippets, but can you tell us how long the ladies have been staying with them? I thought they'd just recently met after being saved, but his use of the words she loves me for it makes me think it may have been longer or is he meaning she loves the idea of him being more than just a man?
ReplyDeleteEither way fun snippet and based off your reply to me last week Lareina is quite the flirt is she's still married but has no issue in buttering up Murphy. LOL
Ah, curiosity killed the cat you know : ) The ladies have just been on this island a day...so all this behavior is very strange. Since we are in a world of magic and mythological creatures...
DeleteA bit more??? You tease, Millie! lol. I love this little mini mystery in these snippets. :-)
ReplyDelete: ) They are that and then some...
DeleteSeems like a whole lot of testosterone is colliding so the women better watch out. Always fun reading your snippy snippets.
ReplyDeleteThese men haven't had many women around to woo...
DeleteThe intriguing questions keep piling up - a bit more than a man, and I still want to know what the skins have got to do with anything, as they seemed to be the trigger for this line of conversation.
ReplyDeleteThe skins have significance as we'll see next week : )
DeleteMore than a man?
ReplyDeleteReminds me of a song from "Saturday Night Fever," by the BeeGees, More Than a Woman."
Yeah, it'll be interesting to see what else they are.
Nice 8!
Next week Frank, ha, that song makes me think of the movie Short Circuit : )
DeleteI take that "more than a man" comment to mean they might be superhuman or non-human creatures. Or he could just be bragging on himself, like a typical guy.
ReplyDeleteWe shall see how much more than a man they are : )
DeleteLareina seems like a teenage girl in love. LOL What more are they? I have the impression that the father is hiding things... great snippet, Millie!
ReplyDeleteShe might be a bit mesmerized : )
DeleteConfession time! Can he trust her so soon? Warm eight.
ReplyDeleteHmm, trust is usually something earned...unless you aren't used to being around people...
DeleteAnother fun snippet, as usual. No wonder Ravyn thinks he's amazing, if what I suspect is true. Love and magic are in the air (and sea). Can't wait for next week!
ReplyDeleteAh, you are likely on the right path : )
DeleteAbsolutely love this snippet. The trust issue made it relatable!
ReplyDeleteGlad you liked it. Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment.
DeleteLove the banter between this group, but I think the ladies have been, ahm, charmed. ;)
ReplyDeleteQuite possibly : )
DeleteI think they might be trusting the women a little too quickly...
ReplyDeleteHmm, hearts could get broken...
DeleteHmmm...the trust issue has me wondering...
ReplyDeleteGood. More to come next week : )
DeleteMurphy is funny and a little stubborn. Intriguing snippet. Hope you feel better soon.
ReplyDeleteThanks, starting to feel more human now. Murphy is a delightful gent.
DeleteLareina needs someone with a bit of common sense. Maybe Murphy will fit the bill? :)
ReplyDeleteLareina's a happily married woman...Murphy is hoping she'll fit his bill : )
DeleteLove the innuendo in her comment. A man, indeed.
ReplyDeleteIt's always a difficult question for someone with a hidden nature--when do you tell people?
: ) It's gonna be cool to see how they react : )
DeleteLOL! Great excerpt, Millie! You've got these characters *down*! Lareina may be in for a shock, poor dear. I would've loved to have followed Ravyn and Ronan to hear their conversation :-)
ReplyDeleteJust a fly on the wall, huh Marcia?
Deletethat last sentence is a teaser, you have to tell us more! sorry to hear about your cold, get well soon !
ReplyDeleteI'm feeling much better, thanks. You'll find out more next week : )
DeleteGood luck with that cold of yours! You must fight it off like the warrior that you are! You must get such a kick writing these characters. I love them to pieces and enjoy learning more about them each week! :)
ReplyDeleteI fought the cold and the cold...didn't win. Almost gone. Another day and I should be right as rain! Thanks Evelyn : )
Deleteanother great excerpt, Millie!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you glad you are enjoying.
DeleteSo you're bringing Selkies into the mix.
ReplyDeleteHe he he. No mythological creature is safe from my pen. And I'll do with them whatever I please : )
DeleteI loved your snippet! The dialogue was interesting.
ReplyDeleteKeep smiling,
Yawatta
: ) Thanks. Next week just might shed some light if folks are still in the dark...
DeleteI love your characters, especially Ravyn! And the snippets just get better and better :)
ReplyDeleteI also hope you're feeling better <3
